Greywater PDF Print E-mail

The Greywater system at Buninyong Garden is by New Age Water.

It is connected to the two showers, and has a timer inside it so that any unused greywater is dumped to the sewer within 24 hours (which is a requirement of the Ballarat City Council).

Special soap that is ok for the environment is used, Green tea from Dominant.

April 2008 Update:  The plan now is to make ourselves a reed bed system to filter this grey water, and get clean water into a small pond.  Hoping for a frog habitat out of this.

Solar Panels PDF Print E-mail

Buninyong Garden's house has a grid connected solar electricity system.

There are 10 BP solar panels.  They do not produce enough power to run the whole house - we will need to do an energy audit and will replace inefficient power guzzlers (like fridge and freezer) with the newest most efficient models in the future.  We do apply other simple energy saving steps like turning off all appliances at the wall to remove "stand-by" power use.

They were installed by Gee-tek.
